Their lifelong research of compositional improvisation reveals discovering and organizing a dance as each moment unfolds as a structuring process.

Like You Mean It by Like You Mean It (Noelle Chun, Adriana Durant, Annie Kloppenberg, and DJ Ed Luna)

DON'T MISS 3 DANCE WORKSHOPS

Jennifer Monson
Date: Sat, Oct 31, 2009
Time: 2-5 pm
Place: Outer Space, 1474 N. Milwaukee Ave. #3F, Chicago, IL
Instructor: Jennifer Monson
Class Fee: $35

Class Description: In this workshop we will use concepts generated from phenomenon around us both in the urban and less urban environment to explore choreographic approaches to place. We will drift through movement and ideas, arriving in eddies and pools that allow us to deepen into different states of awareness and consciousness. Form will arise for movement explorations and from this we will create choreographic systems that respond to our own personal sense of place and the inherent relationships we create as we transmit experience through dancing.

Place: Epiphany Episcopal Chicago, 201 S. Ashland Ave. Chicago, IL
Instructor: Like You Mean It (Noelle Chun, Adriana Durant, and Annie Kloppenberg)

Class Description: Conscious Trip: Not Just Dancing Around
In the daily “performance” of living, we all compose our own experiences in real life in real time. A coherent performance of group improvisation, however, is a complex task that must be informed by rigorous physical investigation and shared inquiry as a part of that group. In this class we will engage in such rigorous practices. We stumble into improvisational dance-making in a series of scores designed to facilitate both nuanced attention and collective authorship.

This workshop balances in-depth solo exploration with rigorous practice in spontaneous ensemble dance-making. Fresh perceptions and new choices are set in motion through provocative open-ended questions; each kinesthetic/conceptual proposition creates windows into authenticity, connection, depth, and range.
